    U16 Girls North Conference

    Lancashire Spinners 27-64 Northamptonshire Titans

Titans’ U16 Girls made the trip up to Bury on Sunday to take on Lancashire Spinners. With a depleted squad, Titans’ younger players were set the task of maintaining their unbeaten season.

Titans started strongly and determined, with senior players Hannah Bird and Kenny Hamilton dictating play. Bird opened the scoring and Titans’ defence held strong as they kept Spinners to only 2 points in the first quarter against their own 19.

Titans’ Captain Hamilton lead by example, driving hard to basket and communicating well on court; Titans continued to perform well with India Evans scoring well and all players making the score sheet by the half extending their score to 40 compared to Spinners’ 6.

Titans’ concentration slipped in the third and Spinners were out to prove themselves. Spinners went on an 11-0 scoring run in the first 4 minutes of the quarter. Hamilton gathered herself and her team well as they pulled their performance back.

The fourth quarter saw Titans back on track with Jess Lee running well and Bird controlling the offence. The tie finished with a Titans victory.

    Top Scorers:

    Hamilton 18, Evans 17, Bird 11, Lee 10

    Division 2 Women

    Northamptonshire Titans 56-92 Ipswich

After last week’s buzzer beating win against Gems, Titans took on the unbeaten powerhouse of Ipswich who boast no less than 7 GB players in their roster. Titans’ combination defence struggled to contain Ipswich in the first half, however Paige Vyse exploited the gaps in the visitors press to score 6 of the 8 Titans’ points. Georgia Collins made an instant impact off the bench whilst Mica Denton caused issues hitting back to back baskets.

The game was out of sight by halftime but Titans’ resolve began to gain confidence as, with the change of defence, Titans were about to score on transition with Sascha Thompson and Esme Kinghorn connecting.

Titans continued to stay with the league leaders throughout the 4th and can be proud of their performance.

    Top Scorers:

    Vyse 12, Collins, 10
