The New Year saw a weekend of away fixtures to start 2018 for the Titans' Teams:

    U18 Men

    Northamptonshire Titans 60-80 Lynn Nets

U18s had a battle against the Lynn Nets.

In the first half, the Nets were dominating the Titans on the boards and fighting their way through to the basket.

In the second half, the Titans began to buckle down on defence, stopping the Nets from driving to the basket, stealing the ball and crashing the boards on both sides of the court.

The Titans lost the game 60-80.

    Northants Thunder 56-49 Northamptonshire Titans

This weekend Titans U16 Purple Boys met local rivals Northants Thunder at Northampton Basketball Centre. The home side opened the scoring following an early foul and gained momentum early on but a strong run from Titans towards the end of the first quarter put them back in contention with the score 12:8 going into the second period.

Titans continued their scoring run as Dinari Williams-Brown dropped 2 from a strong drive to the rim. Ben Hooper converting from the line aided the visiting team to gain their first lead of the game. Both teams exchanged points and the score at half time saw Titans trailing by just 1.

Thunder kept their lead going deep into the 3rd until interrupted by Titans’ Williams-Brown, offering a needed boost for Titans who capitalised on the turn of fortunes and with the help of Isaac Round managed to equalise. Both teams exchanged points for the remainder of the third leaving the game wide open and tied at 35:35 going into the final period.

The 4th quarter opened with a spree of points from the home squad as they took the lead by 9 points within the first 4 minutes leaving Titans with very little margin of a comeback. With Williams-Brown again interrupting Thunder’s scoring run, Max Aldridge’s two drives to the basket and Isaac Round adding points, Titans showed signs of a resurgence however it wasn’t enough and despite a great performance by the Titan’s boys, the game ended 56:49 to Thunder.

    Stockport Lapwings31-80 Northamptonshire Titans

The first game of the New Year saw Titans travel to Stockport. Titans were quick to respond to Lapwings opening the score from the tip as the combination of Hannah Bird, Lauren Dabbs and Kenny Hamilton scored 6 unanswered points, but the home side were spurred on by hitting a 3 pointer of their own. However, Titans went on to a 16-0 run as the Lapwings were blown away by Titans’ defence.

In the second quarter the home side were overwhelmed by Titans; the scoring trio were in fine form along with India Evans.

With the score line at the half 12-39 the result was in no doubt and with that Coach Powell could give all his team good minutes.

The real test comes this Sunday as Titans face Derby Trailblazers in what could be a title decider should Titans keep up this sort of form.
