    U16 Boys Midlands West Conference

Northamptonshire Titans Purple 90-70 City of Birmingham II Rockets

Titans U16 Purple boys met in a spectacular game in the National League Midlands West Conference at home on Saturday as a long-anticipated win came in for Titans.

Titans’ Isaac Round, Ben Hooper and Deimantas Cebatoriunas opened the game with an 11-0 run as the visiting side struggled to turn up, leaving it until 6-minutes into the game before putting a mark on the scoresheet. Their 2 points were matched by Isaac Round, whose efforts led him to drop 12 points in the first quarter making a significant contribution to the scoreline, coupled with excellent defence from Titans closed the first period 24:7.

A change in tactics from Titans’ coach going into the second half set the quarter off in good terms as Isaac Round pulled the trigger for a 3 pointer which landed and was quickly followed by another 2 from Cebatoriunas. Yet another scoring run from Titans of 13-0 ensued and the quarter closed 82:49.

Confidence was riding high for the home squad as they entered the final period, this enabled them to relax a little and play with the Rockets’ defence. Struggling to cope with this and frustrated, two key Rockets players were fouled-out in quick succession. Titans were unrattled and although had their worst quarter of the game statistically, they played to the final buzzer and took the game.

Titans Purple face Team Birmingham Elite on Saturday at Weavers as they look to bring in another win.

Northamptonshire Titans 120 v City of Birmingham Rockets II 35

As the 120-35 result suggests, the U14 boys match against City of Birmingham Rockets II was a very one-sided affair. The under-age Rockets were no match for the older, stronger and more experienced Titans players. It took the Rockets until the seventh minute to put some points on the board by which time Titans had scored 20. As it was 68-12 at half-time, Titans could afford to take their foot off the gas in the second half, but they still managed to cruise their way to their biggest total of the season. Six of the Titans reached double figures with Benji Leesing leading the way with 27 points. The other players with double-digit contributions were Isaac Round (21), Sean Rawlins (20), Lorenzo Williams (13), Harry Mitchell (11) and Ben Hooper (10). With four league games remaining, Titans only need two wins to guarantee their place in the play-offs.

    U12 Boys Bucks League

Northamptonshire Titans 49-17 South Bucks Comets

With several players unavailable, the U12s boys travelled to the impressive Stoke Mandeville Stadium on Sunday with just 6 players, but this didn’t stop them from recording another win in the Bucks U12s League. The lack of players meant they started the game 10-0 down, but at the end of the first quarter the gap had been closed to just 6 points with the scoreboard reading 14-8 in Comets favour. However, Comets were held scoreless in the second quarter and Titans went into the mid-game break 20-14 ahead. Titans continued to play well as a team at both ends of the court through the second half and thoroughly deserved their 49-17 victory. Highlights included Dimitris Makrakis’ buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter, William Baker’s rebounding, and Ethan Round’s 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. Coach Round was pleased with the performance and was grateful to the parents who made the trip to Aylesbury to support the team.

    U16 Boys North Premier

    Northamptonshire Titans 110-60 Newcastle Eagles

The U16 boys continued their winning run with a commanding performance against Newcastle Eagles on Sunday. Titans were in control from the start with a 30-13 first quarter score, Jude Carmichael being allowed to score freely. The boys were able to take their foot off the offensive gas in the third, but Sam Grant finished the quarter with a 3-point buzzer beater and Titans moved through the final quarter to the end of the game with a clear win with 5 players on double figures.
