    U16 Girls North Conference

    Derby Trailblazers 51-55 Northamptonshire Titans

This fixture saw both unbeaten teams go head to head for the first time. Titans started the stronger as their defence held firm whilst Lauren Dabbs and Tegan Millar opened up an 11 point lead along with Emma Wickham finishing the quarter with back to back scores, Titans took an 8-21 lead.

Derby’s coach rallied his players and they responded well, but with some sterling defence from Kenny Hamilton and finishing from India Evans, Titans still had a healthy halftime lead.

Again Derby kept chipping away at Titans, who’s passing game went missing but Dabbs’ long range 3 pointer settled the Titans as the game ebbed and flowed.

The fourth quarter was all about defence from both teams and managing the foul count, which Titans did right to the final buzzer to the relief of the Titans squad and traveling supporters.

    Northamptonshire Titans 126-81 Trafford Magic

Titans took on basement team Trafford Magic and for the first five minutes, Trafford were scoreless whilst Titans poured in 15 unanswered points. Titans moved away from the game plan and allowed Magic shooters time and space connecting from deep. Titans dominated from around the hoop as the duo of Sam Grant and Jacob Cirtautas continued to execute with little resistance.

Titans picked up the defensive efforts in the second and third periods and completely overwhelmed the visitors. Titans took their foot of the gas in the fourth and were content to exchange scores to see the game out.

    Worcester Wolves 68-58 Northamptonshire Titans

Nottingham Wildcats II 68-86 Northamptonshire Titans

The Titans women opened their league campaign with a double header, firstly taking on Worcester Wolves. It was a close affair with both teams exchanging early on; Mica Denton was taking care of business under the boards, however Titans offensive finishing was stuttering. In the last minute of play, Titans fell apart as Wolves hit them for 10 points and left Coach Powell with some work to do.

Titans did respond well in the third but it was the perimeter shooting of Wolves in the final 2 mins of the game that denied the away team.

The following day Titans took on Nottingham Wildcats II and Titans looked a completely different outfit as Sascha Thompson converted in transition. Mica Denton and Hayley Swann started to put scores up and with the defensive efforts paying off, Titans lead began to mount up. Ayesha Hillman was too hot to handle as she tore through Wildcats defence and with the high energy tempo Titans displayed some of their best basketball at both ends.

A sluggish start from Titans lifted the home side as they found success early on but a quick 5 points from Paige Vyse quietened Wildcats.

Titans got back on track in the fourth and were rewarded with their first victory of the season.

    Northamptonshire Titans 86-63 Huntington Hawks

Playing against Hawks was a struggle in the first half the U18 Titans.

On defense, the U18s played their hardest firing 3 pointers and attacking the basket viciously! Thanks to Kelvin Ndiritu's defense stopping the penetration of the first half, the U18s were able to take the lead. The U18s won the game 86-63; leading scorer of the game was Josh Wright scoring 25 points.
